Wers testen will, hier. Es scheint aber so, dass alte Extensions dadurch automatisch deaktiviert werden.

Google OS GOOBUNTU
Ein Artikel auf mybroadband sorgt für Aufsehen. Darin wird behauptet, dass Google an ein eigenes Betriebssystem arbeitet und dieses auf Ubuntu basiert.
“A key stage in Ubuntu’s growth will be persuading personal computer makers to sell machines with Ubuntu already installed. Google has developed its own version of Ubuntu, called Goobuntu. Shuttleworth says he is in talks with the city of Munich about creating an edition for them.”
Diese Nachricht wurde gestern von Chris DiBona von Google bei slashdot bestätigt:
“Goobuntu is our internal desktop distribution. It’s awesome, but we’re not going to be releasing it. Unless you work here it wouldn’t work anyway. If you haven’t tried ubuntu, you should, I have the regular one running on my laptop and it really is fantastic. I’d say it was debian done right if I wanted to start a debian flame war. Also, know that Google getting into the Red Hat business would be kind of dumb, and it would distract from our moon teleporter and cold fusion [google.com] projects.”

Ubuntu Splashscreen
Ein witziger Ubuntu Splashscreen:
Ubuntu sollte jeder Linux Fan kennen. Das Projekt wurde am 1. Juli 2005 vom Ubuntu Foundation ins Leben gerufen und basiert auf Debian. Übersetzt bedeutet Ubuntu „Menschlichkeit“ und „Gemeinsinn“. Ubuntu ist in mehreren Sprachen verfügbar und steht wie anderen GNU/Linux Betriebssysteme unter GPL Lizenz.

Zweite Beta von KDE 3.5
Die zweite Beta-Version von KDE 3.5 ist jetzt erschienen und enthält zahlreiche Verbesserungen. Zudem wurde auch der Release-Plan vervollständigt, somit wird KDE 3.5 Ende November 2005 erscheinen. (Golem)

eyeOS - Online Betriebssystem
eyeOS, so nennt sich ein neues, auf Web basiertes Betriebsssystem. Dieses Cross-platform Betriebssystem oder besser gesagt CMS steht unter GPL-Lizenz und läuft auf jeden PHP fähigen Server. Zum Zubehör-Paket gehören ein Taschenrechner, ein Datei Explorer, ein Texteditor, ein Browser, ein Kalender und paar andere nette Programme.
Das Online Betriebssystem unterstützt viele Sprachen und findet sich unter eyeos.org.

Gentoo Linux 2005.1 (El Nino) veröffentlicht
Das Gentoo-Projekt hat seine quelltextbasierte Linux-Distribution in der Version 2005.1 alias “El Nino” veröffentlicht. Die entsprechenden ISO-Images stehen ab sofort zum Download bereit.

Windows Vista Beta 1 released
Wie erwartet, hat Microsoft nun eine erste Beta-Version von Windows Vista - vormals Longhorn - veröffentlicht. Die Beta 1 von Microsofts Windows-XP-Nachfolger wird an rund 10.000 Beta-Tester im Rahmen des “Windows Vista Technical Beta Program” sowie an weitere Tester per MSDN und TechNet ausgeliefert.
